Bur Dubai is the old town on the south bank of the Creek, with the Al Fahidi historical district, its narrow lanes, galleries and the coffee museum, and the Al Seef heritage waterfront with wooden dhows on the water. Our office is in Dubai Marina, 25 to 35 minutes away outside rush hour, so for Bur Dubai we bring the car to your hotel or apartment building. The handover takes about 10 minutes. Parking in Bur Dubai
As in Deira, the streets are narrow and zones A and C are mixed together, with many residents-only bays in the evening, so read the signs carefully. Street parking costs AED 2.10 to 4.20 an hour depending on the zone and time of day, with a four-hour maximum stay in zones A and C, and is free from 10 pm to 8 am, on Sundays and on public holidays. A compact car is easier on these streets and in the tight underground car parks of older buildings. Electric car chargers are scarce in the old districts, so a petrol car is the simpler choice here.
Getting around from Bur Dubai
Bur Dubai and Deira are linked by the Creek crossings, which are a bottleneck from 7:30 to 9:30 and from 17:00 to 19:00. The Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud bridges have Salik gates, AED 4.20 or 6.30 per crossing depending on the hour, and the Floating Bridge is free during the day. At rush hour the AED 1 abra across the Creek is the fastest way to the Deira souks. The Green Line metro covers both old districts. Downtown and Burj Khalifa are 15 to 20 minutes from Al Seef, and the Marina 25 to 35 minutes outside rush hour.
Delivery terms
On rentals of 7 days or more, delivery and collection anywhere in Dubai are free. On shorter rentals they cost AED 210 for both legs together. There is no deposit on any car, and 250 km a day are included.
