When a pickup beats a sedan or a crossover
People in Dubai rent pickups for the load bed, not for show. You want one when something will not fit in a boot: camping gear, boxes, building materials, bikes, filming equipment or an exhibition stand. A pickup is also tall, built on a frame and feels solid on roads outside the city, so it is a popular choice for trips around the emirates.
There is a flip side: it is longer and taller than an ordinary car, parking in mall car parks and underground garages can be tight, and fuel use is higher than in a sedan. If you only need a comfortable city car, look at a sedan or a crossover. If you need the bed for a real job, a pickup has no equal.
Which pickups we have and what they cost
Our fleet has pickups of several classes. Prices are as of October 2026, and the current price is on each car page. None of the cars listed needs a deposit, and the minimum rental is one day.

This is not every pickup on the market, but all of these are in our fleet and all are offered with no deposit.
How the models differ
Mid-size: Hilux, Navara, L200, Ranger. The sensible choice for most jobs. The Toyota Hilux has a 2.7-litre 166 hp engine and four-wheel drive, the description says the bed carries up to a tonne, and ground clearance is 216 mm. The Nissan Navara has a 2.5-litre 163 hp engine and independent rear suspension, so it rides more softly on tarmac than most pickups, with 220 mm of clearance. The Mitsubishi L200 and the Ford Ranger are double-cab pickups with all-wheel drive, and the Ranger's cabin is closer to an SUV in comfort.
Jeep Gladiator. A 3.6-litre V6 with 285 PS, all-wheel drive, a removable roof and an open bed. It suits anyone who wants an unusual pickup for trips into nature.
Big American trucks: Silverado, RAM 1500. The Chevrolet Silverado with its 5.3-litre 355 hp engine and the RAM 1500 Laramie with a 5.7-litre 395 hp V8 are noticeably larger and more powerful than the Japanese pickups. The RAM has rear air suspension instead of leaf springs, so it is very soft. This is premium comfort rather than a workhorse.
Ford F-150 Raptor. A twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 with 450 hp, 5.9 metres long, about 33 cm of ground clearance. It is a car for excitement and fast driving, not for hauling. If you need the bed for work, the Raptor is overkill and expensive.
What is allowed and what is not: rental terms
Three points to know in advance.
- Sand and off-road. The Toyota Hilux description says plainly that driving onto sand is prohibited by the contract. For the other pickups, ask us about off-road terms before you book. Four-wheel drive and high clearance do not mean the desert is allowed: a gravel track and soft sand are different things. We cover the desert in a separate article.
- Cargo. The bed lets you carry a lot, but the load is your responsibility. Strap things down, do not overhang the body and do not overload the vehicle. If you need to carry something very heavy or tow a trailer, ask us first: we do not promise towing or load terms without confirmation.
- Partner cars. All the pickups in the table above are our own cars with no deposit. Partner cars have their own terms (a 1,000 AED deposit, a minimum rental of 3 or 7 days, no driving to Oman), shown on each car page. If you plan a trip to Oman, ask when you book.
Scenarios: camping, moving, work
Camping and trips out of town. Tents, chairs, a cool box, water and firewood (where the place allows it) fit neatly in the bed, leaving the cabin for people. Check beforehand where camping is allowed, and take your rubbish with you. Do not plan a route over sand if your rental terms do not allow it.
A small move or delivery. For a day or two a pickup replaces a cargo taxi. Cover boxes with a tarp or something waterproof and tie them down. For large furniture, measure it beforehand.
Work and filming. For setting up equipment, exhibition stands and camera gear, a pickup gives you room. For a longer period the weekly or monthly rate is better value: the Hilux costs 1,380 AED per week or 4,600 AED per month.
The practicalities are the same as for other cars: insurance is included, 250 km per day is included, delivery in Dubai is free on rentals from 7 days and costs 210 AED (delivery and return together) on shorter rentals.
