In the Emirates the Toyota Land Cruiser has long been shorthand for a dependable SUV: families drive them, companies run them, and weekend trips to the mountains and wadis are full of them. The name covers quite different cars, though, from the simple, rugged Land Cruiser 70 to the full-size 300 in a well-equipped trim. We have four versions in the fleet, from AED 300 a day. Here is how they differ in use, what they cost and how to pick the right one.
Which Land Cruisers you can rent and what they cost

How the versions differ
- Land Cruiser 70. A classic working SUV with a simple cabin and the familiar boxy body. Five seats. People pick it because they want exactly that character, or because they are heading to the mountains and wadis rather than to Downtown restaurants. The most affordable Land Cruiser in the fleet at AED 300 a day.
- Land Cruiser Prado. A mid-size 7-seat SUV. A balance of size, price and city manners: smaller than the 300, easier to park, yet still big enough for a large family. AED 400 a day.
- Land Cruiser 300 GXR. The full-size 7-seat Land Cruiser in a simpler trim. The same big body and powerful engine as the VXR, for less: AED 520 a day.
- Land Cruiser 300 VXR. The top trim of the 300, with richer cabin equipment. AED 600 a day, so AED 80 more than the GXR.

Which trips a Land Cruiser suits
- Family holidays. The Prado and the 300 seat 7. For a family with children and luggage it is one car for everything: the airport, the beaches, trips around the emirates.
- Mountains. The roads to Hatta, Jebel Jais and Jebel Hafeet are paved, but a big SUV feels calmer on the climbs and hairpins. Four-wheel drive and a high seating position help here.
- Desert. The Land Cruiser is a common choice for trips onto sand. If you plan that kind of route, discuss it with us when booking; our separate article on desert driving has the details.
- Long highways. The east coast, Fujairah, Al Ain. A large car is stable and comfortable on the open road.
- Work and long stays. For a month the Land Cruiser 70 costs AED 6,000, about AED 200 a day, and the Prado AED 8,000, about AED 267 a day.
How much a week or a month saves
All four versions have the same discounts: a week is about 14 percent cheaper than 7 daily rates, and a month about a third cheaper than 30 daily rates.
- Land Cruiser 70: a week is AED 1,800 instead of 2,100, about AED 257 a day. A month is AED 6,000 instead of 9,000.
- Prado: a week is AED 2,400 instead of 2,800, about AED 343 a day. A month is AED 8,000 instead of 12,000.
- 300 GXR: a week is AED 3,120 instead of 3,640, about AED 446 a day. A month is AED 10,400, about AED 347 a day.
- 300 VXR: a week is AED 3,600 instead of 4,200, about AED 514 a day. A month is AED 12,000, exactly AED 400 a day.
The gap between the GXR and the VXR is AED 480 over a week and AED 1,600 over a month. If size matters more to you than the top trim, the GXR saves money. Factor in delivery too: from 7 days, delivery and return anywhere in Dubai are free, while shorter rentals pay AED 210 for both together. A Prado for 3 days, for example, comes to AED 1,200 plus AED 210, AED 1,410 in total.
What the price includes and what is extra
- Insurance is included.
- 250 km per day, 1,750 km over a week. That covers the city plus a few trips to the mountains or the coast.
- Salik tolls and speeding fines are paid by the renter at actual cost, with no markup.
- Driving to Oman needs to be agreed when booking.
Most cars need no deposit. If a car needs one, it is shown on its page together with the minimum period.
Payment and documents
You can pay in cash, by bank card or with an e-wallet. When paying by card, the rental amount may be held as a pre-authorisation and charged at the end of the rental.
Drivers must be 21 or older with at least 1 year of experience, and there is no young-driver fee. Licences from the EU, the UK and the US are accepted without an International Driving Permit. Visitors from Russia, Kazakhstan and most CIS countries need an IDP together with their national licence. If your country is not covered here, check with us before booking.
