People rent muscle cars in Dubai for the open roof, the sound and an evening drive along Sheikh Zayed Road, not for fuel economy or boot space. The Mustang and the Camaro have argued about this since the 1960s, and in our fleet they stand side by side. Below is a comparison of our own cars, with prices as of October 2026. All four cars come with no deposit, insurance included and a 250 km daily allowance. One important point: our two Camaros are very different. The 2020 Camaro RS is a modern convertible with a V6, while the 1968 Camaro SS is a genuine classic muscle car, not a replica. Do not compare them as two versions of the same model.
Mustang: two versions, two purposes
Our Mustangs are the S650 generation, both 2024 convertibles. They have two screens, digital instruments with retro modes, a rear camera, Apple CarPlay and a ten-speed automatic. The soft top folds in 10 seconds.
The EcoBoost, with a 2.3-litre turbo and 315 hp, reaches 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. It is the most affordable way to drive an American muscle car with the roof down: 300 AED a day. Colours are red or yellow, subject to availability. The GT, with a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 and 486 hp, does 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. It has Bang & Olufsen audio, a drift mode and line lock for standing starts. The GT costs 450 AED a day, and people rent it mainly for the sound.
Camaro: modern and classic
The Camaro RS Convertible V6 from 2020 is the cheapest convertible in this comparison: 239 AED a day and 5,490 AED a month. In our description it is the American sports car in its most accessible form: a long bonnet, a wide track, a soft top and a V6 you can hear even with the roof up. It has four seats and a boot for two suitcases, the front seats stay comfortable on the road to Abu Dhabi, and the automatic copes with city traffic. Its exact power is not listed in our data. From November to April it is one of the most requested convertibles in the fleet.
The 1968 Camaro SS Convertible V8 is a different conversation. It is a genuine first-generation muscle car with a V8 and an open roof. There are no driver aids and no rear camera, but there is steering, a soundtrack and a feel that no modern car reproduces. At traffic lights in Dubai people turn to look. It costs 699 AED a day, 3,990 AED a week and 11,990 AED a month. As a classic it gets special handling: we hand it over personally and ask you to book well ahead.
Choose the Ford Mustang if
- You want a modern convertible with a camera, CarPlay, digital instruments and a ten-speed automatic.
- You want a V8 with real punch: the Mustang GT with 486 hp at 450 AED a day.
- You want a cheap open car: the Mustang EcoBoost at 300 AED, 1,800 AED a week.
- Acceleration matters: 4.5 and 5.5 seconds to 100 km/h according to the descriptions.
Choose the Chevrolet Camaro if
- You want the cheapest convertible: the Camaro RS 2020 at 239 AED a day and 1,590 AED a week.
- You want a V6 and American character without paying extra for a V8.
- You are after emotion, not comfort or technology: the 1968 Camaro SS with a V8 and no electronics.
- You are happy to book a classic in advance and take it from a member of staff in person.
Season and practicalities
A convertible works best in Dubai from November to April, when evenings are warm rather than hot. In summer the midday sun makes roof-down driving uncomfortable, and most people drive with the roof up and the air conditioning on, opening it in the evening. Our description of the Camaro RS says it is one of the most requested convertibles in exactly that season. If you want a specific Mustang colour, red or yellow, tell us in advance, as they are subject to availability. The 250 km daily allowance is enough for the city and a trip to Abu Dhabi, but for longer routes count the kilometres beforehand.
Bottom line
For an ordinary open-top drive, the easiest choices are the Mustang EcoBoost or the Camaro RS: they are close in price and purpose. For sound and speed, take the Mustang GT. For one memorable night, a wedding shoot or a photo session, take the 1968 Camaro SS. All versions are on our model pages with current terms.
