Child seats in a rental car: start here
If you are travelling to Dubai with a child, settle the seat question before you pick a car, not in the car park next to our office. A good child seat is chosen for your child's weight and height, not for a vague age bracket. So the safest approach is to write to us in advance with the number of children, their ages, weight and height, and ask whether a suitable seat is available on your dates.
Seat availability depends on the date and how many bookings we have, so we do not promise them by default. Ask when you book: that gives us time to find an option, or to tell you early that it is better to bring your own.
We do not quote the exact legal age or size thresholds for child restraints in the UAE here. Rules can change, and a wrong number is worse than no number. Check the current requirement with official Dubai sources, and follow a simple logic: the younger the child, the stricter you should be.
Two options: a seat from us or your own
| Option | Advantages | Drawbacks |
|---|---|---|
| Seat from us | No bulky item to carry through the airport | Availability and model are confirmed when you book |
| Your own seat | Your child is used to it, and you know its history and how to fit it | Takes up luggage space, and you must check it works with the car's belts and anchor points |
If your child's seat uses Isofix anchors, tell us when you book and we will point you to cars in our fleet that have them. Not every vehicle is equipped the same way, and older or unusual models may not have anchors. Do not guess, just ask.
Which car works for a trip with children
For a family the seats matter, and so does the space: a pushchair, suitcases, a bag of snacks and toys. Here are several practical options from our fleet (prices as of October 2026, the current price is always on each car page):
- Kia Carnival Noblesse 2022: eight-seat minivan, 199 AED per day, 1,390 AED per week, 4,990 AED per month;
- Honda Odyssey 2024: seven-seat minivan, 290 AED per day, 1,740 AED per week, 5,800 AED per month;
- Kia Telluride 2024: eight-seat SUV, 300 AED per day, 1,800 AED per week, 6,000 AED per month;
- Chery Tiggo 8 Pro 2024: seven-seat crossover, 190 AED per day, 1,240 AED per week, 4,200 AED per month;
- Mitsubishi Outlander 2024: seven-seat crossover, 200 AED per day, 1,300 AED per week, 4,400 AED per month.
There are also budget seven-seaters from our partner company, such as the Toyota Rush and Hyundai Stargazer, from 130 AED per day. Partner cars have their own terms: a minimum rental of 7 days and a 1,000 AED deposit, both shown on the car page. If those terms suit you, it is a sensible choice for a long family trip.
One rule applies to every car: three rows of seats do not replace a child seat. The extra seats are for people and luggage, while a child's safety depends on a correctly fitted seat.
How to fit a seat and what to check
Fitting takes a few minutes, but do it calmly, not in a hurry in a car park. These general tips work for any vehicle:
- Read the seat's instructions or ask to be shown how it attaches. If the seat is ours, we can help at handover.
- The belt or anchor must be tight with no slack: the seat should not rock noticeably from side to side.
- The harness on your child should lie flat and snug, with no twists, and not over thick bulky clothing.
- Young children are normally carried on the rear seat, not beside the driver.
- Never leave a child alone in the car, even for a minute: the cabin heats up very fast in the sun.
Before the first trip, check everything once more on the spot and drive a few metres around the car park. If something feels wrong, it is better to fix it straight away.
Practical points for families
Most of our cars need no deposit, insurance is included and 250 km per day is included. If a car needs a deposit, it is shown on its page. Delivery and return anywhere in Dubai are free on rentals from 7 days, and for shorter rentals delivery costs 210 AED (delivery and return together). For a family with a small child, delivery to the hotel or the Marina is often easier than travelling to pick up a car with luggage and a baby.
If you arrive with a child, send us your flight number and time. If you need a seat, it must be prepared in advance, not found on the day. If you bring your own, you are not dependent on our stock.
Finally, think about routes. Children are more comfortable on the road in the morning or toward evening, so bring water and stop every hour or so. Longer trips between the emirates are perfectly possible with kids, but allow more time than the navigation suggests.
Our office is in Princess Tower, Dubai Marina, open daily 10:00 to 19:00, with Russian-speaking support. Write to us before you book, and we will help choose a car and answer the seat question for your dates.
